EVENTS To The Tomorrows Accelerated World
SIGMA sponsored the contemporary art exhibition Toward The Tomorrows Accelerated World held on 2-30 November at Historic Turkish Bath on the YTÜ campus. The exhibition reflects the exponential progress in science and technology affecting the people in the world through the eyes of the artists Engin Beyaz, Hakan Gündüz, Numan Okutan, Ozan Türkkan, and Nergiz Yeşil.
Curator Eşref Alemdar invites visitors to insights and discussions on the latest developments in science and technology through artificial intelligence, machine learning, biology, digitalization, and communication.
The exhibition features huge spider webs by artist Engin Beyaz representing the communication networks and technologies surrounding us, and a video installation with sound effects dedicated to the beginning of life on earth created via artificial intelligence and machine learning by artist Ozan Türkkan who works on digital art and experimental media. An interactive digital work utilized machine learning, instantly creating portraits by reading the emotional states of the visitors and using the data set containing tens of thousands of oil paintings created by Hakan Gündüz. Painter Numan Okutans absurd portrait of a human-plant hybrid and his oil painting draws attention to the existence of humanoid robots in our lives. Bio artist Nergiz Yeşils installation points out a species that never existed, with so-called leather samples made from Kombucha mushrooms.
The exhibition can be visited free of charge until 30 November at Historic Hamam Yıldız Technical University Davutpaşa Campus, Monday-Friday between 10:00-16:00 and Saturdays between 10:00-16:30.
